College school year

Admissions Process

STEP 1: BEGIN WITH A VISIT TO LEARN ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

We offer personal tours AND host a variety of additional events to help families learn about The College School. We welcome you to attend any or all of these events, as visiting is the best way to understand our program and connect to our community.

Children have the opportunity to explore a number of "activity stations" in different spaces around the school, such as the studio, teaching kitchen, greenhouse, etc. The event concludes with a delightful performance for all to enjoy in our Theater or Gym.

STEP 2: APPLY FOR ADMISSION:

February 2016

APPLICATION DEADLINE: The main cycle application deadline for the 2016-17 school year is . You can apply online via our Applications page links or submit a paper application. We can accept some late applications as part of the main admissions cycle. In March, we move to rolling admissions for the upcoming school year and accept applications through early August on a space-available basis.

  • NOTE: For Middle School (6th-8th), we share an application with other ISSL secondary schools, called the SAO (Standard Application Online) offered via SSAT.org. We require one teacher recommendation, ideally from a core subject instructor in Language Arts or Math. In addition, we DO NOT require the SSAT, but are happy to accept the scores if your student is already sitting for the test.

FINANCIAL AID DEADLINE: The priority deadline for financial aid applications is early March. Financial aid is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. We continue to accept financial aid applications beyond this deadline until all funds are allocated. If you have any questions, please contact Kelcie Bartley, Diversity Coordinator, at 314-962-9355, ext. 129 or kbartley@thecollegeschool.org or Marc Langhauser, Business Manager, at 314-962-9355, ext. 116 or mlang@thecollegeschool.org.

Applicants visit in classrooms. Preschool, kindergarten and first grade applicants visit for an hour in a small group with classroom teachers on a weekday afternoon in February. Second through eighth grade applicants visit for a full school day in their current grade. Middle School (grades 6-8) applicants also meet with a core Middle School teacher during their visit day for a 25-30 minute informal conversational interview.
